The Ashtead potters were made up of made up from mainly disabled ex-service men from the Great War.
They produced a lovely crock tankard for the AOFB based on George Lorraine Stampa's sketch from the Membership book of ritual.
Stanley Metcalfe sculpted the orignal tankards using Stampa's sketch and they were produced in three sizes. The 'normal' tankard was coded as the J32 and held a pint and a third, a pint of ale and a third for the froth. Also produced were larger Blaster (J33) and Tornado (J34) tankards which both held two pints ( a quart ).
